AESC exercises growing expertise in Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) and ZEV infrastructure
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - April 26, 2016 -- AESC participated in the 2016 Efficiency Exchange conference hosted by Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) and Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) in Coeur d’ Alene Idaho, by organizing and developing a conference session on electric vehicle infrastructure. The title of the session was “Electric Vehicle Infrastructure- evolving opportunities to stabilize the region’s future.” The session was conceived by the AESC and moderated by John Clint of AESC. The session sought to answer the following provocative questions:
1. What are the issues and considerations surrounding the use of NW utility rate base funding for EV infrastructure?
2. How can industry stakeholders work together to overcome barriers to market transformation in the adoption of EVs and development of EV infrastructure?
The panel provided a real-time update on the West Coast Electric Highway from an infrastructure standpoint, and how recent policy changes, such as HB 1853 in WA, and HB 4036 in OR, impact northwest utilities. The discussion also addressed common considerations of the increased electrification of the grid, grid management, renewable penetration (recognizing duck curve), and load balancing issues (PV and EV), and strategies in developing new utility programs and other ways to realize maximum benefit of EVs.The panel of experts included:
