AESC is Celebrating 30 Years of Energy Efficiency and Climate Action

A message from Antonio Corradini, President and CEO of AESC

I am so excited and proud to announce the 30th anniversary of Alternative Energy Systems Consulting, Inc. Thirty years is an achievement in business longevity by any measure, and it reflects AESC’s long history as a trusted engineering, software, and program delivery partner since a time when “energy efficiency” was a nascent concept, and national spend on demand side management was a small fraction of what it is today.

In 1994, AESC was founded with the motto to provide “Energy Solutions for a Changing World”. At that time, we were just beginning to see the first effects of the climate crisis, and the energy efficiency programs we supported for the California IOUs were based on offsetting load growth and the ratepayer impacts of new costly power plants. In the 30 years since, we have seen the intensifying impacts of too much carbon in the atmosphere, a major shift in utility generation, grid loads, and grid needs, and the ever-expanding benefits of DSM programs recognized in both policy and practice. Our original company motto is still as relevant today as it was at our founding, and AESC continues to bring our clients innovative solutions to solve energy challenges in a changing world.

Today’s AESC has evolved into a national company delivering clean energy engineering, turnkey third-party programs, technology research, consulting, and software solutions to more than 120 utilities, governments, and private sector clients to help decrease energy use, fortify the grid, and decarbonize processes and systems. We average over 120 energy and water audits a year and continue to grow that number as we add new services to meet the market needs, including benchmarking and building energy performance compliance and ESG goals.

We have supported and implemented more than 30 utility and municipal energy efficiency programs and are currently implementing programs serving state buildings, prisons, wastewater treatment plants, refineries, and diverse commercial markets. We have expanded our strategic energy management practice to new regions and utilities, and are leading the way in the implementation of innovative new commercial and residential meter-based programs that measure and incent energy efficiency and peak load modification projects based on measured hourly impacts.

Most of these programs are supported by AESC’s in-house cloud-based software Praxis that provides custom tools for energy analytics, modeling, M&V, and client interface that streamline and simplify the process of managing projects and programs.

Our growth has been possible through the diverse and inclusive environment we have created at AESC where people are free to do their best work, and it shows in everything we do. We are doing the right things with the right people at the right time, and I am excited to see where that takes us. Cheers to 30 years of AESC!
